Chocolate Chip Cookies—Original Toll House Cookies
Ingredients:
2¼ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup softened butter
¾ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon. vanilla
½ teaspoon. water
2 eggs
12 oz. (2 cups) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup coarsely chopped nuts

Origin of recipe: Back of package of Nestles Chips…the best…the folks in our family seem to “inhale” them before they ever make it to the cookie jar. Wendy and I would fill two giant Christmas jars, and Chris and Tracy would sneak a “few” as soon as we turned our backs! Cookie Monsters for sure!

Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Sift together 2¼ cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon salt (cut in ½). Set aside.
- Combine 1 cup softened butter or shortening, ¾ cup granulated sugar, ¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar, 1 teaspoon. vanilla, ½ teaspoon. water, beat until creamy. Beat in 2 eggs.
- Add flour mixture; mix well.
- Stir in 12 oz. (2 cups) semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1 cup coarsely chopped nuts.
- Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet.
- Bake 10-12 minutes (try cutting time to 8-9 minutes for softer cookies, yum!)
