Seven-layer Cookies
Ingredients:
1 stick margarine
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
6 ounces of chocolate chips
6 ounces of butterscotch chips
2 14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
¾ cup shredded sweetened coconut
½ cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
Makes 48 bars.
Origin or recipe: Barbara Roussillon, family friend of both Nancy Bingers, brought this gem to Elif’s shower and mentioned that she had won fi rst place in a cookie contest at her school for this one! Yummmm! Yum!
1 stick margarine
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
6 ounces of chocolate chips
6 ounces of butterscotch chips
2 14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
¾ cup shredded sweetened coconut
½ cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a saucepan, melt the margarine. Add graham cracker crumbs and stir until crumbs are moist.
- Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9 x 9” pan.
- Pour chocolate chips and butterscotch chips evenly over the top of the crumbs.
- Drizzle the can of sweetened condensed milk over the top of the chips.
- Sprinkle the coconut and walnuts on top.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- Allow to cool for about 30 minutes and cut into squares before completely cooled. Let the cookies finish cooling fully before removing from the pan.
Makes 48 bars.
